What would happen if the queen ant dies in a colony?
Hello All,
I have made a quick video on what can happen to an ant colony if the queen ant was to die. It really depends on the species as you know some ant species can have more than one queen ant. Some species have young females ready to challenge each other to take the dead queens spot. Some other species only have one queen ant and when she dies can make the entire ant colony die. Queen ant survival is very important to maintain the growth of the colony. Its kind of sad to think in some ant colonies if a queen ant dies the worker ants will pass away one by one until there is no more. This can take months or even up to a year.
