Fronted by a trio of young, hijab-clad female from Indonesia, Voice of Baceprot (VOB) is making waves amongst Metal fans around the world since making their mark with powerful covers of everyone’s favourite metal songs. Baceprot, coined from their native Sundanese which means ‘noisy’, is the perfect word to describe them and their style of music.
Hailed from a small village of Singajaya in West Java, the tight pack of three, Marsya (vocals and guitar), Widi (bass) and Sitti (drums) who discovered metal back in 2014 after stumbling across System of a Down’s 2001 album Toxicity, took just a month of learning the instruments and then nailed their first cover. The rest is history in the making for these talented trio now with multiple singles out while playing huge arenas around the world.
Garnering massive followers online and amongst Metalheads everywhere, VOB has been rising to greater heights with every performance that they put out while breaking stereotypes of what a metal band ‘should’ look or sound like in their own way. The immense prowess they possess is a nod to their talent and effort as they continue to stomp the heavy metal scene with impressive stage presence.
VOB has since marked their global presence when named as ‘The Metal Band the World Needs Now’ by heavy metal and rock magazine Metal Hammer, and featured in the online pages of renowned media including The New York Times, NPR, BBC, DW and The Guardian. Their jaw-dropping performances at the recent Wacken Open Air 2022 in Germany has been met with nothing but loud cheers and top praises from the fans. They wrapped up their amazing year of 2022 with 2 singles, 1 EP, 12 shows across 7 countries and a European tour.
The all-female trio is set to meet Malaysian metalheads for the first time ever next year for Voice of Baceprot (VOB) Live in Kuala Lumpur on February 19th at Zepp Kuala Lumpur.
