Follow these steps to easily make a two colored soap using infused oils:
-my annatto seeds are infused in olive oil, so my recipe must include olive oil.
-my recipe is: castor 55 gms
rice bran oil 110 gms
lard 255 gms
coconut 220 gms
shea 55 gms
tallow 165 gms
olive 240 gms
This will use 149.8 gms of lye for a 7% superfat. I soaped with 26% water so used 286 gms of liquid, you can adjust that to whatever liquid amount you are used to working with.
My additives were: 1 tsp sugar ppo and 1 tsp of sodium lactate ppo, and I add these to my cooled lye liquid prior to mixing into the oils.
Use whatever essential oil blend you prefer but remember to research the safe usage rate of each, I add 1 tsp of arrowroot powder/ppo to my essential oils and allow that to soak for a couple of hours prior to soaping. Also remember to wear all safety gear while making your soap.
-melt all of the oils in your soaping pot EXCEPT the olive oil portion
-divide your olive oil into two separate portions, 120 gms of plain olive oil and 120 gms of annatto infused olive oil
-bring the melted oils to light trace or emulsification and then divide the batter into two equal portions by weighing
-now add the 120 gms plain olive oil to one portion and the 120 gms annatto infused olive oil to the second portion and stick blend until you reach the desired trace.
-make whatever design you wish with the two portions (layer them, swirl them etc...)
If you have any questions please post below and I will try my best to answer them.
Now go play with some soap batter, happy soaping!!!!
