JBL Bar 3.1 vs Logitech Z-5500 vs Samsung TV - short review below.
There are three different audio tracks from each recording mixed together on top of a single video track. Recorded with GoPro Hero 7 Black with Saramonic SR-XM1 3.5mm microphone.
TV obviously sounds pretty bad, JBL in fact also sounds ''weak'' or ''small'' taking into account it's small speakers, whereas Logitech produces powerful sound even on low volumes - because of different speaker size (JBL has 3x1.25'' plus 6x2.25'', but Logitech has 5x3'' satellites). JBL bar total RMS is 75W, but Logitech satellites total RMS is 317W. If you turn up the volume then it is not so noticeable anymore but, to be honest, most of the times TV won't run on a very high volume so the low end is where it matters. Anyways I'll stick with a soundbar because of bluetooth, design and the lack of need for extreme volumes even though it sounds a bit worse.
JBL advertises 450W of RMS power whereas Logitech advertises 505W RMS.
Subwoofers both are 10'' and perform similar, giving really a LOT of bass (maybe even too much for day to day use, but can be adjusted on both systems). JBL subwoofer RMS is 150W, but Logitech 188W. Both are heavy pieces of equipment with big air tubes, only JBL subwoofer is facing to the ground, but Logitech to the front. Different design seems to compensate the power differences as they both are very powerful.
Logitech Z5500 was set to Stereo x2, surround volume to the max, subwoofer level about 80% without any additional boost, and main volume about 60%.
JBL 3.1 was set to Music mode, Surround on, Bass was level 25 (out of 30) and main volume also 25 (out of 37).
TV volume was 27 out of 100 I think.
Both use optical connection with the TV.
