In the vast expanse of the Asian steppe, the Mongols, nomads of unparalleled skill and endurance, roamed with their herds of sheep, goats, horses, camels, and yaks. Their way of life was as harsh as the unforgiving climate that shaped it. Clad in warm, durable garments crafted from felt and animal furs, both men and women wore heelless boots, baggy trousers, and long jacket-robes secured by leather belts. Underneath, cotton or silk undergarments provided comfort beneath the rugged exterior.
