Born in a musical family, Shusmita Anis, the niece and devoted disciple of the legendary Nazrul Sangeet singer Feroza Begum, was trained by her aunt from the age of five. She has specialized in Nazrul Sangeet and modern Bengali songs, especially those tuned by her uncle, the legendary composer Kamal Das Gupta.
