Asteroid City is the sort of high-aesthetic/weird plot mix we've come to expect from Wes Anderson -- and in his own alien invasion scenario, he reveals the power of meritocracy and collaboration. But the most fascinating part of Asteroid City might be the subtext we never see on screen: if the news media doesn't work freely, and we frequently see de facto blackouts and tight information controls, why should we take it seriously?
