It was a hard decision to replace my 4.5 year old Sony Vaio Z3.
Shame Sony no longer makes laptops in the UK but HP has always been a close second preferred brand.
I'm so glad I did not buy the late 2016 Spectre X360 (silver). I was looking for it on the HP store and much to my surprise this newer version with 4K screen and pen support came along!
Initial impressions after 1 week - Wow! It needs a little tweaking but hope HP will do a firmware update to improve things.
* Keyboard light is either on or off no auto mode? Typing wise is fantastic feel.
* Keyboard does not have a UK tall enter button, take some time to adjust.
* Fan does switch off once cooled so operate silent 70% of the time but think it is too eager at times and at full speed can be a bit noisy in a home environment.
* At first it did not respond to tablet mode and the keyboard was still active. After a few updates and reboot it sorted itself out. Tablet mode to colour and sketch has been a nice past time for me this week.
* Speakers are impressive, nice range. Quad speakers!
* I prefer matte screen but the HP has a nice quality screen and easy to get the brightness right.
* Windows Hello works well but maybe too well? Prefer to be able to select if I want to login with my face. Also worrying it works with my eyes closed i.e. when sleeping and someone was to hold the laptop over my face…
* I do miss having an SD card slot.
* Thank you HP for retaining just one old USB port and hope future laptops will be the same for some time.
* Supplied pen and case good quality.
**Apologies for the focus was not setup correctly for the close ups!
