The Guam Head Start Program provides comprehensive services to 534 children ages 3 – 5 and their families, with priority given to preschoolers who will be entering Kindergarten next year. The Head Start Program is under the Guam Department of Education and the Head Start Classrooms or Centers are part of most Elementary schools in Guam. The Guam Department of Education (GDOE) is the grantee for the program. Health and Human Services, Administration for Children Youth and Families, Office of Head Start program provides the majority of the funding with the Department of Education ensuring a level of effort of 20% of the grant award.
The Guam Education Policy Board (GEPB) is the Governing Body for the program and works with the Parent Policy Council in shared decision making and discussion in the planning of the program.
