An introduction to the blues - an easy and accessible explanation of the classic 12-bar blues format.
This video explains the basics of the 12-bar blues: the chords that are used and the music theory behind how we arrive at those three chords.
It also introduces the concept of using the Roman numeral system of identifying chords i.e. I , IV and V.
Using musical examples from the great Freddie King, you will see how these three chords fit together to form the 12-bar blues structure that is a universal genre, integral to shaping so much of the music we hear today and for the last hundred years.
