5. SOUNDBITE (English) Brian Stelter, media reporter/consultant on 'The Morning Show':
"My small contribution was to talk to the writers and producers and help make this fictional world as true to life as possible. To make it as authentic as possible. You know, sometimes I watch movies and TV shows and they have these fake newscasts in the background and I think, 'Oh, that looks terrible. It's so fake, it's so obviously fake.' I think with 'The Morning Show' we've created an authentic world. It feels like you're watching a real-life morning show, but you get to go behind the scenes _ and that's the thing about morning TV. A lot of people wake up in the morning, they turn on their phone, they turn on their TV, they want to spend time with someone they trust and someone they like before heading out the door for work or for school but we never see the real story behind the scenes. When I tried to write a book about this, I think I got too a little behind the scenes but a drama actually brings it to life and that's what this show's done."

STORYLINE:
CNN CANCELS 'RELIABLE SOURCES,' HOST STELTER LEAVING NETWORK
CNN has canceled its weekly ``Reliable Sources'' show on the media, and said Thursday (18AUGUST2022) that its host, Brian Stelter, is leaving the network.
CNN has been looking to cut costs but also to put forth a less opinionated product. Stelter has written a book about Fox News Channel and been critical of the network, making him a frequent target of the network's conservative critics.
Stelter came to CNN from The New York Times, where he was a media writer.
``He departs CNN as an impeccable broadcaster,'' said Amy Entelis, executive vice president of talent and content development at CNN. ``We are proud of what Brian and his team accomplished over the years, and we're confident their impact and influence will long outlive the show.''
Stelter said that he was grateful for his nine years at CNN, proud of the show and thankful to its viewers. ``It was a rare privilege to lead a weekly show focused on the press at a time when it has never been more consequential,'' he said. ``I'll have more to say on Sunday.''
The ``Reliable Sources'' newsletter, a daily compendium of the media's big stories, will continue and will be led by CNN senior media reporter Oliver Darcy.
Stelter's book "Top of the Morning" about the cutthroat world of morning television inspired the Apple TV Plus series, "The Morning Show," starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston. The program follows Aniston and Witherspoon's characters, co-hosts of a morning show, whose male anchor co-star has been fired for sexual misconduct.
"Reliable Sources" will have its last broadcast this Sunday.
