Watch me paint this beautiful Purple and 'Mintish' Green Dot Mandala step by step... these videos are done to give you some inspiration to create your own personal designs...
Paints used in this video are Global Fine Art Acrylic Artist Impasto Paints Mintish (this was a limited edition paint) and Tranquility... mixed with Pouring Medium at a ratio approximately 3 parts paint and 1 part medium and water added to get desired consistency... this is never an exact formula, even within the same brand... so just experiment...
The purples were my own paint blends using Holcroft Matt Medium and a Bathbomb World Mica called Purple Reign... this is similar to a colour shift mica... it turns blue to purple depending on what angle you look at it... it's stunning! I mixed the mica with a touch of water... just enough to get it dissolved and added the Matt Medium... I then adjusted the consistency with a little bit more water... I tried mixing micas with pouring medium... that works but the pigments do sink so you need to re-stir it the next time you use it... and it was a bit runnier... the Matt Medium worked a treat and the pigment remained stable! I mixed this with some of the Tranquility for a beautiful pearl mid purple colour...
The MDF board I used here is 29.5cm round... The guidelines are drawn using a watercolour pencil... rings are 1cm apart and other guidelines are described in the video... I pretty much make my designs up as I go along... working intuitively... I never have a plan! That is the fun bit... I like a challenge...
The Ball Stylus Dotting tools I am using in the video are from the McGill Paper Blossoms Tool Kit and the dotting rods are from Happy Dotting Company...
