Tuesday, August 18, 2015, 8:52 PM 86 Degrees at 4800ft elevation In the Santa Rita Mountains South East of Tucson Arizona right in between the River and the Parking area at the Bog Springs Campground.
Our first 2 Tail Lizard,While on our animal finding trek we got very lucky and found a slightly mutated Madrean Alligator Lizard and we are here to share it with you. Madrean's can only be found from central Arizona down thru the Tucson area then Into Part of New mexico as well as a lot of Mexico but you can find 7 of the other Species of Alligator Lizards in the Mountains of California from the coast all the way to the Sierra Nevada Mountains and there are some in Oregon on the coast as well as south central Washington and there are a few Pockets In Nevada east of Las Vegas by the rivers and lake.
Alligator lizards Prefer Lots of leaves or pine needles to hide in under the shade of trees and seem more likely to come out just before dusk and stay out a little bit after however I'm not sure if they stay out all night because I have never look more than 30-40 minutes after sunset.
There are more Species of Alligator Lizards in the eastern half of the USA but I have not been there yet to see them but later when I do they will be shared with all of you as well.
