Shadow Emergency Management Minister Murray Watt says the Morrison government was “far too slow” in taking action and getting ADF into the flood-affected communities.
Mr Watt has criticised the federal government’s slow response to the floods, which has affected New South Wales and Queensland, with residents now preparing for a massive clean-up.
He also criticised the lack of resources towards the state SES.
“If we’re focusing on Lismore for a moment, the fact that there has barely been a federal government minister on the ground … since these floods occurred has really incensed people,” he told Sky News host Chris Kenny.
