Crete, Laguna Balos, one of the most beautiful beaches in Crete. There are two ways to get to Balos, the first is by ship. Ships depart from a small port next to the village of Kissamos. The boat trip takes approximately 60 minutes.
The second way to get to Balos beach is by car. This is equivalent to taking a stretch of gravel road connecting the village of Kalyviani to the hilltop parking lot above the beach. The distance between these two places is about 10 kilometers. A large part of the gravel road is in very good condition, so you can easily get here by an ordinary passenger car. There are, however, places where rocks fall onto the road.

Going down to the beach is relatively easy, returning to the parking lot, especially in July and August, is extremely difficult due to the temperature. The shallow water between the peninsulas makes the water warm. The view of the beaches itself is breathtaking. Balos Lagoon is a magical place.
Apparently, this place was a hiding place for local pirates a long time ago. In the distance you can see their main historical seat, Gramvoussa Island.
The first thing that catches your eye is the color of the water. The color of the lagoon is turquoise, and the white sand enhances the colors. So the Balos lagoon is a great place to spend the day swimming and sunbathing. It's worth coming back here!
