Why do these nice fairy tales always turn dark and spooky?

This is Bramble: The Mountain King

The Boiz awake in a dark forest, playing as what is probably the tiniest boy ever born. They find themselves in the clutches of a massive stone troll, and decide to try to find their way out. Along the way, they meet plenty of friendly little critters, like some gnomes as well as a saddled up hedgehog who never seems to catch the worm. But not everything in this forest is quite as friendly...

Soon, they hear some music that causes them to lose all bodily autonomy, and they accidentally fall into a crevice. To find their way out of the dark cave, they must partake in some platforming challenges. Upon exiting, they see who was playing the fiddle - Näcken. He wants to lure people into his swamp lair with his music so they drown. Will the Boiz escape its deathly grasp?
