Bully is a game that is probably most famous for it's controversy. Rockstar take their successful GTA formula and cross it with Grange Hill, The Breakfast Club and St. Trinians. You play Jimmy, a schoolboy who has been expelled 7 times and left in Bullworth Academy by his mum, who is jetting off on her 40th honeymoon. Your task is to unite several factions like nerds, jocks, preps and greasers by doing missions, and beating up their individual leaders.
Instead of jacking cars and shooting up territories and sucking in drug and racial humour and violence, this game is relatively clean. The worst you'll find is fist fights and wedgies. It's quite well written too with some comedic characters and stereotypical teen movie tropes. I really like the way that you can attend and try to pass classes in order to earn perks.
The soundtrack fluctuates between annoying and boppy, and whether you want them to or not, they'll be in your head for hours. Gameplay-wise, it all falls apart as a victim of it's time. The controls are janky and frustrating, whether fighting or exploring - and whilst there are stand out missions, 50% of them are timed fetch quests. I didn't have a bad time - but it feels like Bully made this list due to it's notoriety rather than how good it is.
