There's a trend in commercial real estate called the Flight to Quality. What does "Flight to Quality" mean? How will it affect lighting choices? That's what this video is going to dive into
Flight to Quality is a term that has floated around the real estate industry for a long time. It's currently a hot term because of a recent report by CBRE published in July of 2022. We'll get into the numbers and what they mean. I talk about base rent, effective rent, and tenant improvement allowances.
I look at recent moves by companies like Google, Fanatics, Venmo, PayPal, and Amazon, not just taking out office space, but doubling down on New York City.
Then we get into what this means for design in general and lighting specifically. I'll get into things like:
Designing for Daylight
Integrating Acoustic Considerations into Lighting Design
Embracing Shapes, Curves, and Finishes to bring a touch of home to the office
Why you should be using high CRI
Why we'll need higher levels of coordination going forward.
