Get ready for a wild ride, because I've got a story to tell you! So, I met up with my buddies Kurt and Magda in Blenheim, and we set off towards the Leatham Valley, determined to take on the Branches River 4x4 track and camp at Greigs Hut for the night.

As we turned off Leatham Road and crossed the Leatham River, we found ourselves in the midst of a stunning Native Beech Forest. The track was reasonably well-formed, but with a few creek crossings to add some excitement - let me tell you, those crossings were rocky, with steep and rough entries and exits that put your driving skills to the test!

The journey is about 7 km each way, and as we progressed, the Beech Forest gave way to Manuka and Exotics, creating a beautiful tapestry of flora and fauna.

After a substantial amount of rain, the next morning I decided to explore the Mt Morris track on foot. The track was steep and I struggled to walk the first 200 meters - it was a very tight and rough track. I will return in the future to take on this infamous little track once again!

But enough about the adrenaline-pumping adventures - let's talk about the peaceful moments too. We decided to escape the Sandflies at camp and went on a search for the perfect breakfast spot. That's when we stumbled upon a gorgeous little oasis down the Silverstream Track, not too far, about 80 meters or so, from the river's edge. With a beautiful river and lush greenery all around us, we felt like we had discovered a secret paradise, and we savored our breakfast while taking in the stunning scenery.

Overall, it was a trip filled with both thrilling adventures and peaceful moments, reminding us that life is all about balancing the excitement with the serenity.
