Early January 1985 and after a 0-0 draw at Ayresome Park, Middlesbrough and Darington meet at Feethams a couple of days later to try and settle this Old Cup 3rd round tie. It wasn't a huge upset when 3rd Division Darlo beat their 2nd Division neighbours 2-1 as Boro the team and the club were a slowly sinking ship that would almost fully submerge for good around 18 months later.
