In this video, the stunning Barelli Crypt. Joseph Albino Barelli, JR. was the president of the Italian Mutual Benevolent Society. Joseph was tragically killed in the infamous Steamboat Louisiana explosion, which has been debated as an act of terrorism for over a century. Joseph's father commissioned Pietro Gualdi to design the crypt. Pietro is also responsible for the massive and ornate Italian Society Tomb in St. Louis Cemetery No. 1.
The stunning and massive obelisk to Alexander Milne stands as a testament to the Scotsman that moved to New Orleans during the Spanish Colonial period. The large parcels of land he owned eventually became known as Milneburg, where he lived to the age of 97. Having no heirs of his own, Milne bequeathed his fortune to finance the construction of two orphan asylums, and to ensure his wishes were followed, he had his intentions engraved upon his tomb.
