In today's video, I'm going to talk about the Adverse Yaw.
By the end of today's content, you will learn what Adverse Yaw is, what factors cause the adverse yaw and, what you need to do if you encounter this Aerodynamic phenomenon.
The adverse yaw is the tendency of your plane to yaw in the opposite direction of your turn.
So, when you roll your aircraft to the right you will experience a yaw tendency to the left and, if you don't apply a bit of rudder in the direction of the turn you will perform an un-coordinated turn.
The Adverse Yaw is an applicable factor for the aircraft that fly at slow speed, what I mean is that you don't apply rudder when performing a turn on the Airline Jets such as the Boeing 737, however, if you are flying a Cessna 172, an ultralight or similar plane, this is something you need to take into consideration.
This phenomenon happens because the aileron of the wing that goes up during the turn produces more drag (and lift) than the Ailerons on the wing that goes down. So the ''going down'' wing will slow down compared to the ''going up'' wing.
This difference in speed will produce The Adverse Yaw.
