Come along with us today as we share the perfect one day itinerary for visiting Milan, Italy!
One of the cultural and fashion epicenters of the world, it would be nearly impossible for Milan, Italy to live up to the hype. Instead, Milan completely exceeds it. Rich in history, beauty, good vibes, and with an adventure around every corner - Milan must be experienced to be believed.
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II - P.za del Duomo, 20123 Milano MI, Italy
There is no better place to begin your day in Milan than the Galleria Vittorio Emanuele. Nicknamed the “living room of Milan”, the Galleria is the oldest shopping center in all of Italy and features the storefronts of some of the most iconic luxury brands in the world, as well as some serious upscale dining. If you’re on a budget, window shopping at the galleria is just as fun and there is no entrance fee. While you are there, don’t miss your chance to race over to the Ferrari flagship store, which features an F1 race car hanging from the ceiling!
Duomo di Milano - P.za del Duomo, 20122 Milano MI, Italy
Mere steps from the Galleria, is the Duomo di Milano - also known as the most beautiful building you will ever see. With its construction beginning in 1386, this unbelievable structure took over 600 years to complete. Located in the very heart of Milan, a visit to the Duomo is an absolutely must-do for any visitor. Free to view from the exterior, tours can be purchased to enter the Duomo and even to go on out on its roof!
Sforzesco Castle - Piazza Castello, 20121 Milano MI, Italy
Only a 13 minute walk from the Duomo along Via Dante is another highlight of the city - the Sforzesco Castle. Originally built in 1360, Sforzesco Castle is one of the largest citadels in all of Europe. Here you will find the Piazza Castello Fountain, a gorgeous courtyard that is free to the public, and a huge art museum available for just 5 euro. This is a small price to pay, given that included in that fee are artworks of Leonardo Di Vinci, as well as Michaelangelo’s final sculpture.
Arco della Pace - Piazza Sempione, 20154 Milano MI, Italy
Last but not least - make sure to marvel at the Arco della Pace. 25 meters tall and 24 meters wide, this imposing monument was begun in 1807 by Luigi Cagnola - at the request of none other than Napoleon Bonaparte. Completely free and only a ten minute walk from Sforzesco Castle through the beautiful Sempione Park, Arco della Pace is the perfect way to end your day sightseeing in Milan.
