"Jalsa Bunglow" is 11 kilometres from "Sangsay Kharka Valley" and takes about 30 minutes to reach in Mungsong. The "Jalsa Bunglow," built in 1920, was home to Sahibs Babus who worked at Cinchonha Plantations. The bungalow is situated on a hilltop among ancient pine trees and landscaped gardens, with a breathtaking view of the "Teesta River Valley".
Munsong Cinchona Plantation, located at an elevation of 5000 feet, is a vibrant location away from the hustle and bustle of city life. It provides an incredible view of Mt. Kanchenjunga as well as a panoramic view of the surrounding area, as well as a fascinating view of the shimmering Teesta River.
The area surrounding the bungalow is rich in flora and fauna, particularly Himalayan medicinal plants such as Cinchona. Malaria was an epidemic during the British era, and its treatment was critical. The Munsong Cinchona Plantation was established in 1901 for commercial cultivation of the plant. A lavish bungalow was built within the plantation campus for the Director's stay. A few years later, in 1930, when the British abandoned the bungalow following India's independence, it was taken over by the West Bengal Government and renamed 'Jalsa Bungalow.'
“Jalsa Bungalow” will completely change the way you see the wonders of nature. This place offers a mountain of peace, tranquility and joy. Grab your camera and a book and go outside to capture the ideal, relaxing and engaging video you've always wanted to share. North Bengal Hill's best heritage spot is perfect backdrop for the fantasies of a “Digital Creator”.
