Dan Novak and Ashley Thompson host today's Learning English show.
First: For hundreds of years, people have enjoyed coffee as a drink. Recently, researchers wrote about the genetic history of the most popular kind of coffee, finding its 600,000-year-old roots. John Russell has the story.
Then: Caty Weaver reports on record rainfall in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The rare weather produced severe flooding forcing the Dubai international airport to close.
Next: A report by a cybersecurity company suggests that nearly half of the world’s internet traffic is now produced by computer systems called bots. A bot is a software program that often works by itself on the internet to perform the same kinds of actions as humans do. Bryan Lynn has the story for the LE Science and Technology Report. Then, Bryan joins Ashley in the studio. She asks him about how people might protect against the possible risks linked to "bad bots."
Finally: The LE Lesson of the Day. Andrew Smith and Jill Robbins base their instruction on the LE video series Let's Learn English. Today they take a close look at Episode 22. The lesson centers on summer vacation travel language but autumn adventures figure in, as well!
Dan and Ashley close the show.
