Victoria Premier Daniel Andrews says he gave Labor MP Adem Somyurek no opportunity to resign and sacked him immediately after a series of damaging secret recordings were exposed.
“It was not a meeting where I was having a debate or a discussion with him,” Mr Andrews said on Monday.
“I was simply giving him the courtesy of him learning from me what I was about to do and that is essentially to end his career as a minister and end his career as a member of the Australian Labor Party and therefore a member of my government.
“Nothing he could have said, nothing he could have done would have deterred me from the decision I had made.
“I thought so little of his conduct and his comments that I sacked him at 9am.”
