These basil plants have been in for about five months now. They've been putting out flowers for the last couple of months, so we've been pruning heavily.
Ideally, we would just succession plant, but it's been fun to experiment to see how long we can keep the plants in and with decent flavor.
Basil will usually split into three branches. If you cut the middle one, it will force the plant to be bushier. Do this as low as you can, not just near the top of the plant.
