I'd had a debate with someone over whether or not Runeswords were better than Heaven Swords. It's been widely believed that Runesword is better, but I thought otherwise, so I conducted this test. I couldn't have used the Runesword more efficiently if I tried, while the Heaven Swords could've been more efficient, and the specials I definitely could've done better.
Despite that, the results I got were still what I expected. The Heaven Swords out-DPS the Runeswords. This is because Heaven Swords travel a BIT slower - slow enough to provide extra hits per throw without being too slow. Also you can throw both whenever. With the Runesword, as long as the one thrown by your left hand is still on-screen, you can't throw the one in your right hand, so that limits how fast you can throw them. With the special (if used optimally), there's no contest. Heaven Swords flatten Runeswords in terms of DPS with the special.
Where the Runesword excels is doing more damage per hit, having a wider arc when thrown, and having more range when thrown. This makes it easier and safer to use, or "noob friendly", which makes it seem better, but in terms of overall potential, the Heaven Sword can do more. Those kill times are accurate since I was measuring them in my video editor, going frame-by-frame to get the exact frame of the first hit and the exact frame of the last hit to measure the time it took for each one to kill Dracula.
The reason I chose Dracula to test on was because... well for one I only had one file with both weapons and he's the only substantial boss that file has access to, but also because he takes up the whole screen and doesn't move, so pretty much each throw of the swords were guaranteed to hit ('cept the Heaven Swords now and then). Unlike smaller bosses, he doesn't really move or any kind of RNG determining when you can freely hit him, so each test was as even as possible.
