In this video I am making three modifications to the DIY chainsaw milling attachment. They are going to make it more effective at cutting lumber from logs.
The first Mod Is to switch out the smaller rails of the mill to increase the cutting capacity! Now I can fully utilise the power of the Stihl MS880 and it's 47" guide bar. With this mod I wanted to show how easily the t-slot aluminium extrusion goes together. If your interested in this, I wrote a comprehensive guide with plans and parts list here: [ Ссылка ]
The second modification/hack is to make a safety guard at the nose of the saw, so that when I do have friends come round to help there is some protection. This is welded up from scraps of steel I had knocking about. I didn't mess about with this - it is made really strong from 2.5mm thick bent steel and angle iron.
The third chainsawmill attachment mod is about creating a better sliding surface along the side of the log. Watch the video here 04:43 to see what was working and what failed!
