Kalutara Thudugala Ella Falls
The Thudugala Ella Falls is located in the Thudugala Estate in Thudugala village at Kalutara District, Sri Lanka.
The waterfall drops in two steps The top part is about 8 meters and the lower part 6 meters.
The route to the waterfall starts from Katukurunda Junction off the Galle Road; 5 miles (8.0 km) from there on Matugama Road to Thudugala junction and from there 8 miles (12.9 km) to the waterfall.
Kosgulana Sangili Palama
Sangili Palama lies across Kukule Ganga, a tributary of Kalu Ganga in Makeli Ella area in Matugama. Known as Kosgulana Sangili Palama, this bridge is about 65 meters long and not visible from the road. What is unique about this bridge is the lies between two provinces and you can go from Western Province to the Sabaragamuwa Province by crossing this tiny suspension bridge.
The Kosgulana Sangili Palama lies about 750 feet above the water level and is laid with about 400 Kitul planks. The bridge is 3 feet wide and it was reported that it was in a dilapidated state in 2016 even though hundreds cross this bridge every day.
Makeli Ella Falls
The 10m Makeli Ella Fall is said to resemble a bride’s veil from a distance, and round weather-eroded granite stones pepper the landscape. Before the fall there is a large natural pool, and 6m downstream a fairytale-like islet watershed, known as Thumodara. Later, the streams fuse and flow to the Kuda River and the Kaluganga River to the sea.
The Makeli Falls is situated in the Kalutara District. Take the Matugama – Agalawatte road to Lathpandura and then the Molkava road to reach the fall.
