The multi-year infrastructure project of the Department of Public Works and Highways Region IV-A worth P573.8 M will soon be officially open for public access this 2nd quarter of 2021.
The opening of the 7.42-km bypass road starts at the old MSR Daang Maharlika road and ends at the Quezon Eco-tourism road. The project includes the construction of four-lane concrete roads and four-lane concrete bridges (Tumbaga Bridge, Morong Bridge, Gibanga Bridge, Isabang Bridge), with ROW acquisition.
The project was constructed to ease traffic congestion along the Daang Maharlika Road since this will serve as an alternate route that is much safer and more efficient for motorists traveling from Sariaya to Lucena City, potentially saving approximately 20 to 30 minutes of travel time during peak hours compared to the usual 13-km old MSR route. Implemented by the Regional Office and Quezon II DEO, the project is projected to likewise improve transportation capacity with the road upgrades received this year such as road widening, off-carriageway improvement, including installation of streetlights.
