Locally harvested willow can provide a resource for many activities. Small willows can be used to make baskets and other craft items. Larger willows can be cut or coppice on a yearly basis and used to make living willow structures, woven willow fences and garden obelisks. Used in this way willow provides a local, low carbon alternative to bamboo and rattan imported from places such as Indonesia and China.
