This video is part 2/8 of the week 5 series on “Digital Electronics”.
These videos are part of a full Introduction to Electronics course (PHY2006) for students at the Maastricht Science Programme, Maastricht University. This course has a co-requisite of a practical course (PRA2006) in which theory is applied to circuit building and testing in the laboratory.
These videos are merely one part of the overall educational experience and are supplemented throughout the period with tutorials, exercises, activities, lecture slides, downloads of all important information and worksheets, as well as additional support from tutors and course coordinators.
By the end of this topic, you should be able to:
• Perform conversions and calculations in base 2 (binary).
• Draw the circuit symbols for various logic gates & sketch how they can be represented as switches in a circuit.
• Draw logic gate circuits given a Boolean expression.
• Write out the Boolean expressions of various combination circuits.
• Write out truth tables for various logic gates and combination circuits.
• Use Boolean algebra, de Morgan’s laws and Karnaugh maps to simplify Boolean expressions and logic circuits.
