On the Newshour Agenda today, Padmaja Joshi talks about Sushant Singh Rajput case in general and Rhea Chakraborty and the latest developments that takes place with her, in particular. Rhea Chakraborty was arrested by the Narcotics Control Bureau on September 8th. Rhea was then produced before a magistrate via video conferencing and was given 14 days judicial custody. Rhea Chakraborty earlier today was shifted to Byculla jail and her bail plea is to be heard tomorrow. Rhea Chakraborty’s bail plea has been accessed and according to it Rhea was ‘coerced into making those statements’, which she formally retracted on the same day of her arrest.
While Rhea claims that she was coerced into making those statements, the fresh call records have a different tale to tell. Were they ‘coerced’ too?
BJP MLA Ameet Satam states that he is not surprised by the statements of Rhea Chakraborty. Further, he goes on to say that the investigation that was done by the NCB clearly shows that there is a huge drug nexus. Political Analyst Mamta Kale states that Rhea always makes a U-turn from her statements.
Standing in support of Rhea, Lawyer Vikas Gupta states that it is not a trick but is a right of the accused. Adding to this advocate Dixit states that retraction of confession is permissible.
