Although bandleader Ted Fio Rito composed several mainstream hits, such as "Toot Toot Tootsie (Goo' Bye)" and "Laugh, Clown, Laugh," one of his masterpieces is this sophisticated, dark ballad called "Now That You're Gone," which enjoyed a flurry of popularity in the early 1930s. It is similar is feeling to his 1932 song "Three On A Match."
