commentary: the limbs are shipped in from england by the red cross and then sorted out according to specifications. the fighting was particularly hard on the civilian population since much of the struggle took place in the cities.
there are about two hundred and thirty patients under the care of the british team. several prosthetists and two physiotherapists have beed sent under the supervision of miss sue queen. the preliminary fitting decided the type of limb required, which is then machined and adjusted to fit the requirements of the patient.
once the patient is fitted with the new arm or leg, the difficult task of adapting to the change begins. long patient work will be required before this man will walk with confidence and be able, once again, to lead a normal life.
