Ukrainian soldiers rotating out of Russia's Kursk region said that the incursion was 'tough' but worth it.
Speaking to Reuters from the roof of a western-supplied M109 Paladin howitzer, a soldier said that "the Kursk nuclear power plant will be ours."
A soldier from another unit told Reuters that the situation in the Kursk region was getting more difficult after his armoured vehicle hit a mine and had to return to Ukrainian territory for repairs.
The Kursk nuclear power station supplies a major chunk of southern Russia's electricity. It lies 60 kilometres (37 miles) from the border with Ukraine.
Ukrainian army chief Oleksandr Syrskyi said on Friday that Kyiv's forces were advancing between 1 and 3 kilometres in some areas in the Kursk region, 11 days since beginning an incursion into Russia.
