UN Special Representative for Afghanistan Tadamichi Yamamoto said the possibility of a negotiated peace in the country has never been more real in the past 17 years, adding that by moving from “contacts to talks” between the Government and the Taliban, “we can begin to move from a logic of war to one focused on opportunities for peace.”
