Stephen Bates of Sergison Bates Architects presents the practice's newly completed residential block in the former dockland district of Antwerp. Part of Cadix regeneration area, the 80-unit Harbour building takes inspiration from industrial quayside buildings and residential mansion blocks. The building explores different typologies from maisonettes, assisted living units and flexible workspaces. At the centre of the block is a private garden courtyard with a communal pavilion, and passageways are introduced to make visual links from the garden to the street.

ABOUT THE SERIES
In the first of a series of online seasons addressing the development of particular cities, the Architecture Foundation and Brickworks Vande Moortel present a series of films focussed on the Belgian city of Antwerp. The season, which has been developed with support from the Flemish Architecture Institute and Flanders House, will comprise films about recent buildings in Antwerp as well as issues of city-wide concern.
