We're advised that we need to drink frequently to stay hydrated. But is that actually true?
Is it healthy to sip water all day? Let's discuss it. Yes, we need water, and I'm not against drinking it. However, I believe we should reconsider the idea of always sipping on something. According to an insightful study, thirst stimulates the release of oxytocin, the trust and love hormone. This is also an effective stress-relieving hormone. If you drink something all day, you may not produce as much oxytocin as if you waited until your body indicated that you were thirsty. We understand the value of eating intermittently, but what about drinking intermittently? We don't want to reduce the amount of water we drink, but what if we reduced the frequency?
Drinking too much water can dilute your stomach acid, impairing digestion. It can also drain away electrolytes, resulting in low salt levels. A sodium deficit can result in weariness, weakness, an increase in adrenaline, and a variety of other health issues. To properly hydrate your body, you should consume both water and salt. I believe we should ask ourselves more frequently if we are genuinely thirsty or not. If you don't overhydrate, you might even notice that your stress level decreases. Let’s explore more about this concept in the video. Make sure to watch it to the end so that you won’t miss any important information.
