A default judgment is what you obtain when the other side fails to answer your lawsuit. It's similar to a baseball game where one side fails to show up and the team that did show up gets an automatic win just for showing up.

Once you start your lawsuit, the attorneys who represent the people you are suing have a limited time in which to answer the allegations. If they fail to answer within the time frame there are instances where you can enter a default judgment.

Ignoring a lawsuit is never a good idea. If you think an injured victim's lawsuit will go away simply by ignoring it, you are mistaken. It will get you into a procedural nightmare that you may never recover from.
