The Texas Department of Public Safety reports the majority of migrants crossing the Rio Grande are from Venezuela, and some Venezuelans recently planted their country’s flag on an island in the Rio Grande. “On Balance” host Leland Vittert says his ancestors and millions of others came to Ellis Island and waved American flags because they wanted to be Americans, but now, migrants coming to the U.S. wave Venezuelan flags. Vittert asks: Why would migrants wave the flag of the country they’re allegedly trying to escape? Mayra Flores, a former U.S. congresswoman from Texas, said migrants have “no respect for our country.”
