Hiking in Tallulah Gorge State Park is an incredible experience! Here are some popular trails and tips for your hike:
Hurricane Falls Trail
Distance: 2.25 miles (round trip)
Difficulty: Moderately difficult
Highlights: This trail skirts the gorge rim, descends to the gorge floor, and crosses a suspension bridge to the thundering Hurricane Falls waterfall.
You'll enjoy breathtaking views from ten scenic overlooks and experience the beauty of the gorge from both the rim and the floor.
Note: No dogs allowed
Check the dam release schedule before you go, as hiking in the gorge is not allowed on water release dates.
Sliding Rock Trail
Distance: 3.4 miles (round trip)
Difficulty: Very difficult
Highlights: This trail requires a gorge floor permit and takes you deep into the gorge to visit Bridal Veil Falls and a deep swimming hole.
It's a challenging hike but offers stunning scenery and a refreshing swim.
Note: Permits are limited to 100 per day and are not available on dam release days.
Proper footwear is required, and no dogs are allowed.
