The appointment of the Chief Judge of Rivers State, Justice Daisy Okocha, has continued to generate controversy, with the Attorney-General of the state, Mr Worgu Boms, and another lawyer, Mr Osahon Ihenyen, taking different stands on the issue.
Mr Ihenyen on Monday, insisted that the National Judicial Council (NJC) and the governor have had a number of misgivings as to the interpretation of the relevant sections of the constitution - section 271, 158 and 20.
He stated that there had been some misunderstanding as to the provision of the constitution regarding the appointment and recommendation of who becomes the Chief Judge of Rivers State.
"The misunderstanding is coming from the governor not knowing exactly what his powers are concerning the appointment of a Chief Judge.
