Mastering seems to be a term shrouded in secrecy. There appears to be a lot of confusion between the terms 'mixing' and 'mastering'. I hear people saying "we've recorded our song, we just need to master it".

It's fair enough - music production is a confusing world, especially if you are new to it. A lot has changed in the last 20 years with the move online and low cost of recording setups at home. Many of the terms used relate to processes that aren't always necessary these days!

My aim with this video was to try and make it clear what mastering is in particular and to do so, we have to explain mixing and recording as well as what tracks and stems are.
