One family is opening two new restaurants in Stamford. The Lopez family celebrated the grand opening of Gastro Bar. It's right next door to their second restaurant Azuca, officially opening in the coming weeks.
"This one is more like a Mediterranian tapas and wine bar and another one will be like Latin cuisine with a tequila and rum bar," said Alejandro Lopez.
Gastro Bar is bringing a taste of the Mediterranean to West Park Place, with Spanish, Italian and French culinary influences.
"I love their menu. I think they brought something new, something different to Stamford," said Gabriela Molina, who dined in Wednesday evening.
"The food, the presentation looks really good. I tried the salmon tartar. It's really delicious," said Nora Patumanon, who also dined in Wednesday evening at Gastro Bar.
The idea being that their small plates pair well with a glass of wine.
"We have a big selection of wine from all over the world," said Alejandro.
The Mediterranean is not only represented by the food, but also the design created by Cristina Ramirez.
"The food is Mediterranean so we are focusing on Spanish, Italian and French tapas. So that came out of -- in my mind -- just the sea," said Ramirez.
Ramirez is managing the restaurant with her husband Mario, running it together with his brothers Carlos, Jaime and Alejandro.
"It is a good experience. We work together very well," said Alejandro.
The family also runs an Italian restaurant, Bianco Rosso, in Wilton. Gastro Bar is located at 78 West Park Place in Stamford.
