I introduce the programme Space for Mankind of the Strategy AV 21 that is focused on the Czech involvement in international space projects. I focus mainly on two missions: X-ray observatory ATHENA and space-based gravitational-wave detector LISA that are large ESA missions devoted to study the origin of supermassive black holes in centres of galaxies.

» Space projects provide a unique opportunity to study deep space as well as our Earth, surrounding space environment, Sun, planets, asteroids and comets in our Solar system. The space exploration boosts technology development and brings new ideas and innovation for the industry. In this colloquium, we will discuss the research and technical capabilities of institutes of the Czech Academy of Sciences and prime Czech universities with the aim to explore potential future collaboration.
