Marine biologist Dr. Ellison has dreamed of exploring the ocean’s most mysterious depths… but some dreams should stay unfulfilled. The expedition vessel Eurybia and its crew are on a groundbreaking journey, plunging into a newly discovered trench deeper than any on record. At first, the descent is mesmerizing: alien creatures drift through the twilight zone, revealing a hidden world of bioluminescent life.

But as they push deeper into the midnight zone, something far stranger — and larger — appears on the sonar, a presence that defies all explanation. Trapped in the crushing darkness miles below the surface, Dr. Ellison and her team realize that they’re not the ones observing…
