In 1948 Kashmir issues was going on between Pakistan and India so Nehru refused to pay remaining amount to Pakistan which was 55 crores, the tension between both countries had increased both countries were talking about war after seeing this tense situation Gandhi came forward and spoke in the favor of Pakistan and demanded from Nehru Government to pay remaining amount to Pakistan and started Fast unto death protest finally in 18 Jan 1948 Nehru Government payed remaining amount to Pakistan.
