The Spokane International Airport says this holiday season could be one of the busiest in its history.
More than 200,000 airline seats are scheduled to arrive and depart through its gates between December 19 and January 2, an 11% increase from last year.
The airport expects these to be the busiest travel days, when more than 15,000 daily travelers are expected:
- Friday, December 22
- Tuesday, December 26
- Thursday, December 28
- Friday, December 29
Overall passenger count is expected to peak between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. through the holidays, with over 3,000 passengers expected to arrive, depart, and connect through the airport during this period.
To prepare for high travel volumes, passengers are encouraged to:
- Avoid bringing wrapped gifts and packages in checked or carry-on luggage
- Arrive at the airport at least two hours before the scheduled boarding time for your flight
- Have your boarding pass and identification in-hand before entering the TSA checkpoint
- Make sure all electronics bigger than a cellphone are removed from carry-ons and placed in a bin during TSA screenings
- Double-check your luggage
- Review guidelines for traveling with children
